The 2016 IPL games is the ninth edition of the Indian Premier League Cricket Matches and two new teams, Pune Rising SuperGiants and Gujarat Lions, are there and they replace the banned Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.

To decide on the finalists for the 2016 IPL a system of 'Play-off' is adopted. IPL play-offs explained as follows:
The top 4 teams for IPL 2016 is decided by the net run rate. Then the 'Play-off' system will decide the ultimate winner of the IPL tournement.
The top 2 temas will face each other in the first IPL Qualifier match on Tuesday 24th May 2016. The winner of this game goes to the finals directly.
Teams in 3rd and 4th place will play each other in the IPL Eliminator match on Wednesday 25th May 2016. The loser will be eliminated.
In the IPL Qualifier 2 on Friday 27th May 2016, the loser of first IPL Qualifier match will meet the winner of the IPL eliminator round. And the winner of this 2nd qualifier will go on to the finals to meet the winner of the first qualifier match.
